Brian Howell is a research engineer in the Intelligent Transportation Systems group at the Kentucky Transportation Center.  Mr. Howell has extensive experience leading technical projects and multi-disciplinary teams to develop technology and policy solutions over his 12 years in the transportation industry. His research focuses on commercial vehicle regulation and enforcement, ITS planning and evaluation, technology development and deployment, and data collection and analysis for enhanced decision-making. Mr. Howell is a licensed professional engineer in Kentucky and holds a project management professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.  He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Civil Engineering and a Master of Public Administration all from the University of Kentucky. He also serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves with numerous overseas deployments.
