Dr. Mei Chen joined the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Kentucky in 2002, where she is currently a professor. Dr. Chen is also a research faculty member of KTC, where her primary research interest is data driven decision-making in transportation. She leads extensive research projects on pilot-testing of Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP2) reliability tools, integrated safety and mobility frameworks, travel time based performance measures, archived data management systems, integrated land use and transportation modeling, as well as transit operations analysis. Her research also includes travel demand forecasting, network modeling, and simulation. Dr. Chen is a member of the TRB Urban Transportation Data and Information Systems Committee as well as the Highway Traffic Monitoring Committee. She co-chairs the Travel Time, Speed, and Reliability subcommittee.
