The Newtown Pike Extension project presented many challenges to all partners involved, from environmental coordination to historic properties that required archaeological investigation. Issues addressed were:

  • Impacts on a blue line stream – Town Branch
  • A protected park
  • Impact to a historic property, the Cincinnati Southern Railway’s Queen & Crescent Freight Station
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Impacts on a low-income minority neighborhood – including noise pollution created by proximity to a train yard
