Dr. Reginald R. (Reg) Souleyrette is the Commonwealth Chair Professor of Transportation Engineering at the University of Kentucky, having recently completed serving eight years as Chair of Civil Engineering at UK. He also serves as Program Manager for Planning and Decision Analytics at the Kentucky Transportation Center. Dr. Souleyrette has over 30 years of experience as an educator, researcher and administrator at the collegiate, post-graduate, and continuing education levels. He currently teaches graduate and undergraduate classes in highway safety, GIS, and airport design. He has successfully completed more than 10 million dollars of sponsored research for USDOT, State DOTs, local transportation agencies, foundations and private transportation firms, with a focus on transportation data, highway safety and railroad engineering. Dr. Souleyrette is a Fellow Member of the Association of Traffic Safety Information Systems Professionals, and a Member of both ASCE and the National Academies’ Transportation Research Board (TRB). For TRB, he is an at-large member of the Safety and Systems Users Group Executive Board and is Communications Coordinator and past Chair of its Data and Information Systems Section. Dr. Souleyrette earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas and a PhD in Civil Engineering from UC Berkeley. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Iowa and Kentucky.
